The Naked Sun
Fronted by singer-songwriter Drew Harris and guitarist Tim Campbell, The Naked Sun has been a staple of the Philadelphia music scene since forming in 2011. Drawing inspiration from Americana, indie, and classic rock, the band has coined their own sound: “honest-rock.” Before founding The Naked Sun, Harris cut his teeth in the eclectic Baltimore music scene, fronting folk-leaning projects he once described as “streetgrass.” A return to his native Philadelphia sparked a new musical direction — one with more edge and electricity. He and Campbell met in Campbell’s South Jersey home, traded songs, and quickly realized they shared a creative wavelength. Soon after, The Naked Sun was born. Early milestones came quickly: the band won the WXPN Beta Hi-Fi Festival, recorded their debut EP Space, Place, and Time, and began building a following through high-energy live shows and thoughtful songwriting.
